I
’m proud to say that Centegra
Hospital–McHenry and Centegra
Hospital–Woodstock both earned A’s on
the most recent safety survey performed
by The Leapfrog Group. This independent
national organization compares hospitals
for safety, quality and efficiency.
Both Centegra hospitals had the
highest scores possible in many areas,
including our nursing workforce, systems
that reduce or minimize medication mistakes and how they
identify and work to fix potential risks for patients.
Earning an A requires around-the-clock vigilance at every
level and by every person. We’re committed to safety, quality
and excellence. It’s wonderful to be recognized for it.
Our nursing staff was further recognized with the highest
honor for quality patient care and professional nursing
practice—Magnet status. Centegra Health System is only
the second health system in Illinois to earn this prestigious
recognition. This advanced designation demonstrates our
commitment to continuously improving patient care.
At Centegra, we’re focused on your health and the future
of health care.
Sincerely yours,
Michael S. Eesley

Developed for newly diagnosed cancer patients and their support
systems, the Guided Patient Services (GPS) class at Centegra Health
System provides patients with valuable information and resources to
help them as they begin cancer treatment.
“The GPS class teaches patients and their care partners about all of
the support they will receive at Centegra,” said Amy Moerschbaecher,
director of cancer services and medical ancillaries at Centegra Health
System. “During the class we teach about services we provide before,
during and after cancer treatment so patients understand they are
never alone during this journey.”
In this one-time class, patients and their care partners learn the
key roles Centegra Survivorship Training and Rehabilitation (STAR)
Program
®
team members play in their care. The Centegra STAR
Program focuses on addressing the side effects caused by cancer
treatments. Patients also receive assessments that help the Centegra
team develop their personalized plans of care and meet their
treatment needs.
