RENOVATIONS ARE COMPLETE
on the new Centegra
Hospital–McHenry Emergency Department (ED). The
ED features 2 trauma rooms and 21 treatment rooms
with an outpatient observation unit and 14 patient rooms
adjacent to the ED.
The trauma rooms are equipped with state-of-the-art
ceiling-mounted technology located close at hand
to help clinicians deliver effective care in the most
demanding situations. It offers short-term treatment,
assessment and reassessment.
The ED features private treatment rooms with solid
walls and glass sliding doors separating treatment beds,
instead of drapes. The efficient design and layout,
new waiting area, and centralized nurses’ station are
the results of input from ED caregivers, physicians and
patients. A study was performed to determine the best
layout to improve workflow to allow clinicians to provide
the highest quality of care possible. That means a better,
more private and comfortable experience for you and your
family.
In total, the new ED occupies more than 15,000 square
feet—5,000 more than the previous ED. Construction began
in the fall of 2010 and cost approximately $6 million.
“We are very excited to open this state-of-the-art
Emergency Department to the community and the patients
we serve,” says Joseph Keenan, DO, board-certified
